Each year, the week before fall quarter begins, hundreds of first-year students venture out on excursions throughout the city as part of DePaul's long-standing Chicago Quarter Program. This first week of class, known as “Immersion Week,” new freshman have their choice of more than 100 Discover Chicago classes covering topics ranging from architecture, music, culture, sustainability, race, arts, social justice, sports, hauntings and much more. The program is aimed to acclimate new students to the city and their peers, and learn about the university, its culture and the role Chicago will play in their time at DePaul.
